At Sea in the City

William Kornblum, a teacher at the City University of New York, and a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer - a guy my age - wrote At Sea in the City.  It's the tale of his adventures on his 100 year old Crosby catboat Tradition.
Kornblum's book - excerpted here - is a delightful story of circumnavigating New York City.  With an introduction by Pete Hamill, it's a delight.
Tradition is staying for a few at Barron's boatyard on City Island where I winter.

Issuma: Eastbound - the lower St. Lawrence River

Issuma is heading east on the St. Lawrence.  They are on the lower part of the river now, heading to the Gulf - and from there...
low tide - good time to scrape off barnacles
