When helmsmen were, well rich guys like Ted Turner looking for glory; and crews preppy young guys, not athletes training for peak performance like the crews on the hydrofoiling giants of today. They had more fun back in the day...and boats had boat names, well maybe like British warships - Intrepid, Courageous. They weren't billboards for software companies (Oracle), car makers (BMW), fashion houses (Prada), and airlines (Emirates). Check out a few minutes of this video. You'll get the idea.
