The 100th anniversary of Sir Ernest Shackleton's death was three years ago on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Shackleton, an Anglo-Irish polar explorer, died in his cabin on the exploration ship Quest at the age of 47.

- February 15, 2024: The 150th anniversary of Shackleton's birth in Kilkea, Ireland. A memorial plaque was unveiled in his honor at Westminster Abbey.
