Wow! Summerwind - after a $8 million refit - has been donated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point. I am very excited to learn that just across the Sound from City island Y.C. will be the home of this classic designed by John Alden and built by Morse Shipbuilding, Thomaston, Maine in 1929. Update: SummerWind sailed up the St. George River to visither builders at Lyman Morse in Thomaston. I saw her as she entered the river from the Muscongus Bay and got a great photo-op.
