Vendee Globe: first four EIGHT finishers - around the world in 80 days!

UPDATE! Eight finished within 80 days!  Astonishing teamwork, skill, determination, and competitive drive  - ten have finished. Sixteen boats still racing 1/29/21



 

The first five! six! have finished on the  80th day! Forty eight year old Yannick Bestaven arrived second but has been awarded first on corrected time for his part in the rescue of Kevin Escoffier.  The skippers arrived to a spectacular fireworks display for the winner of the Vendee Globe as he arrived at Les Sable D'Olonne, France.

200 miles from the finish was fourth place 61 year old Jean LeCam  sailing a non-foiling boat.  He will be remembered for his heroic rescue of Kevin Escoffier. He too finished on day 80!
